Laboratory of Evolution and Biogeography
(LEBI)

We investigate the evolutionary processes that generate and maintain Neotropical biodiversity. Our research seeks to understand how historical, ecological, and genomic factors interact to shape population divergence, speciation, and the geographic distribution of biodiversity across tropical landscapes. By integrating genomic data, phenotypic variation, and ecological information, we study the mechanisms underlying diversification across multiple spatial and temporal scales. Our work spans evolutionary genomics, speciation, hybrid zones, phylogeography, molecular systematics, and biogeography, with a particular focus on the origin and evolution of Neotropical lineages.
